This qualification is aimed at adults (19+) who wish to gain the skills and knowledge required to plan and lead groups in Forest School, and will enable participants to set up and run a Forest School Programme as a Level 3 practitioner. You will learn both inside the classroom and outside in South Devon College’s Conservation Area. We also have an online learning environment where resources and tutor guidance will be available.
This course will run on Monday afternoons for 3 hours over 16 weeks, from 13:30 to 16:30. You can start in September 2017 with other dates available. The course cost is £999.
The qualification covers the following topics:
-Delivery of a Forest School Programme
-Learning and Child Development
-Planning a Forest School Programme
-Practical Skills (including den building, fire lighting and tool use).
-You will need access to Forest School sessions for practical elements of the assessment.
-The Department for Education’s minimum age for a Forest School Leader is 21.
-This is a level 3 qualification, therefore GCSE in English language at C or above (or equivalent) is desirable.
-You will need suitable clothing as sessions take place whatever the weather.
