The A Level in Film Studies is designed to deepen students’ understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of film, the major art form of the twentieth
century, and one developing new modes of expression and exhibition in the first decades of the twenty-first century. Students will study film deriving
from a variety of production contexts and experienced in a variety of viewing situations. They will also engage with a wide range of different kinds of films, developing skills of observation, critical analysis and personal reflection, as well as developing their creativity and practical skills, either in audio-visual or written form.
Please see the specific entry requirements for A Levels at South Devon College: 6 GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above including English and maths. Of these, at least two passes must be at grade 6 or above. Individual subjects may specify which GCSEs are required at grade 6.
Shaun started teaching after spending 23 years in the Infantry, leaving as a Company Sergeant Major. During his time he has under taken many roles within the Infantry from a Mortar Fire Controller to working within Intelligence gathering. Shaun has served in Northern Ireland seven times, Europe, Africa, America, Bosnia and Afghanistan. Whilst serving, Shaun also spent two years working within the Search and Rescue Organisation.Shaun Aston
