As an Event Assistant you could work within a team in an events company or within the events department of a larger organisation. Your role would entail supporting event planners or project managers by carrying out a diverse range of tasks necessary to plan, organise and deliver an event including:
– Searching for the right location and venue for events
– Working with the design team on the look and feel of the event
– Organising logistics such as transportation and catering
Companies use events to bring together different groups of people and the diversity of the events industry is partly what makes it such an exciting area to work in. The events you work on could cover a broad range of activities and sizes, from small numbers of attendees through to thousands.
This is a work-based learning programme that usually lasts between 15 and 18 months. You will build a portfolio of evidence throughout your apprenticeship, including undertaking a project or practical case study covering the core elements of the job role. You will also attend College to complete the knowledge element of the apprenticeship, and study English and Maths Functional Skills if you are required.
For the End Point Assessment you will present your portfolio and undertake a Professional Discussion that will explore what you have produced.
"The curriculum was engaging, and the level of teaching and support were reassuring when I felt nervous about returning to education. Embarking on several trips, both local and overseas, helped to broaden our event vision within the tourism and hospitality industry. Each trip was meticulously organised and offered not only great monetary value, but also an insight for future career pathways. I now research, plan, manage and host events for Team Army!"
