This Level 3 Diploma, delivered at the South West Energy Centre, provides an ideal route from the Level 2. It will teach you the underpinning knowledge which will count towards the Level 3 NVQ.
You should be working at Level 2 in both English and maths and you will be required to undertake a diagnostic test in these areas during your first week of attendance. You should have also completed an appropriate level 2 qualification.
Building upon previous knowledge, you will be looking further into the science, Inspection and Testing and fault finding concepts in both the classroom and workshop environments. Assessments consist of on-line exams, practical tasks and written assignments, some of which will be home study.
Due to the intensive nature of the course, good attendance is required.
You will be required to provide your own safety boots, work trousers and stationery/scientific calculator.
Successfully completing this course means that you can progress to a Level 4 programme or undertake the stand alone NVQ to achieve the full Level 3 NVQ Electrician status as defined by the J.I.B. (Joint Industry Board)

“I chose to study at South Devon College as I've always had an interest in trades. It's a great place to learn about the industry before entering the workplace. The staff are really helpful and I prefer the College environment to school as you're treated more like an adult. It’s a really fun and exciting course."Charlie Capewell
