Pearsons Diploma in Education and Training (DET) – 2 Year

The Pearsons Diploma in Education and Training (DET) Level 5 is a teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is an ‘in service’ qualification designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers in England.

It may be possible for pre-service teachers/trainers (defined as those who are not formally contracted as teachers/trainers) to also complete this qualification. You must have access to 100 hours of teaching, possess reasonable levels of language, literacy and numeracy, and should be qualified/ experienced in the subject you intend to teach.

The course runs over two years, attendance requirement is one evening per week, and depending on existing qualifications, you may well attract the Government Bursary Scheme. You will also be required to attend an interview as part of the application process.

This course is approved by Student Finance England, therefore you can apply for funding support.

T3 Courses marked may entitle you to free tuition fees if you are enrolling on your first full Level 3 qualification and are 19 to 23 years olds.
19+ Courses marked may entitle you to an Advanced Learning Loan to help fund your studies, available for learners aged 19 or over.

Katy has worked in secondary schools (private and public), further education (FE) and higher education (HE) environments and is qualified with a PGCE in Secondary Physical Education, QTS and QTLS. She holds a Master’s in Education and is studying for her Professional Doctorate in Education with a specialism in outdoor education. She has taught for over 10 years and developed and managed FE and HE programmes with a wide range of experience teaching across a large range of levels.
