The primary role of a digital marketer is to define, design, build and implement digital campaigns across a variety of online and social media platforms to drive customer acquisition, customer engagement and customer retention. A digital marketer will typically be working as part of a team, in which they will have responsibility for some of the straightforward elements of the overall marketing plan or campaign. The marketer will work to marketing briefs and instructions. They will normally report to a digital marketing manager, a marketing manager or an IT Manager.
Entry requirements – Individual employers will set the selection criteria, but this might include GCSEs, A levels, a level 2 apprenticeship or other relevant qualifications, relevant experience and/or an aptitude test with a focus on functional maths. Employers are likely to be looking for a proven passion for digital and social media.
Duration of the Apprenticeship is 12 – 18 months
"I previously worked in the automotive industry, but was always very creative and was considering a career change, potentially working in marketing roles with digital technologies. I've had a really good experience at the UCSD; the facilities and resources are excellent, and the support of the tutors is invaluable. I've been able to work on live projects set by employers, such as Living Coasts, which has been incredibly beneficial. I've been able to see the business and commercial aspect of work, and it's been a chance to apply my knowledge and develop my vocational skills. When I complete my Foundation Degree I intend to enter employment for 2 to 3 years, working in web or graphic design, before then completing a top-up year and returning to industry."Ben Young
