Dental Nursing Apprenticeship Level 3

This qualification focuses on direct chairside work and support during a range of dental treatments. It encompasses the underpinning ethics, professionalism, teamwork and communication required to work as a Dental Nurse. You will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, the course duration is two years and you will need a placement within a dental practice to enrol onto this qualification. You can progress your career with a wide range of career paths including:

  • Specialist dental nursing roles

  • Dental hygiene or therapy

  • Dental technology

  • Teaching dental nursing

  • Dental practice management

  • You must have a GCSE Grade 4(C) in Maths
  • You must have a GCSE Grade 4(C) in English
  • You should have a genuine interest in this subject
  • You will need to complete a DBS Check
What will I learn?

  • Dental anatomy and assessment of oral health

  • Principles and techniques of dental radiography

  • How to prepare and maintain environments, instruments and equipment for clinical dental procedures

  • Promote oral health for individuals

  • Provide support during the extraction of teeth and minor oral surgery procedures

  • Principles of infection control in the dental environment
