This qualification focuses on direct chairside work and support during a range of dental treatments. It encompasses the underpinning ethics, professionalism, teamwork and communication required to work as a Dental Nurse. You will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, the course duration is two years and you will need a placement within a dental practice to enrol onto this qualification. You can progress your career with a wide range of career paths including:
Specialist dental nursing roles
Dental hygiene or therapy
Teaching dental nursing
Dental practice management
Dental anatomy and assessment of oral health
Principles and techniques of dental radiography
How to prepare and maintain environments, instruments and equipment for clinical dental procedures
Promote oral health for individuals
Provide support during the extraction of teeth and minor oral surgery procedures
Principles of infection control in the dental environment
