This course is a top-up to the FdSc Civil & Coastal Engineering (or similar) into a full honours degree. The course consolidates the skills and knowledge you have previously acquired and will be co-delivered with the University of Plymouth.
Civil engineers will play an integral role in the development of civil infrastructure in the coming years, drawing upon their knowledge to combat the issues presented by growing populations, increased urbanisation, climate change and severe weather events. You will benefit from the exceptional facilities at the College, whilst Torbay itself has 2 miles of coastline and is a UNESCO-recognised Global Geopark, making an exceptional location to study coastal disciplines.
This course will develop you into a confident and independent technician, capable of directing your own study. You will learn through a range of teaching methods, with a focus on enquiry and problem based learning, which will lead you to identify and resolve your own learning needs and development. The programme will require study at the University of Plymouth 1 day/week to study 60 credits and 1 day a week at University Centre South Devon to study a further 60 credits. The programme features a work-based learning module, lectures, seminars, group work and presentations, with additional workshops and tutorials. You will also develop a range of transferable and practical skills through scenarios relating to working practice, which will provide an excellent foundation for you future career or further study.
