The FdA Working with Children, Young People and Families programme has been designed to provide you with a broad knowledge and understanding in areas relevant to community and social care policy and practice.
As part of the course you will become skilled in recognising and assessing the complex needs children, young people and families often present and support with any specific interventions or referrals.
During the programme you will develop an understanding of the importance of early intervention and safeguarding work, allowing you to manage risk across the spectrum needs for children, young people and families.
The course focuses on work-based Learning and students are required to undertake a work placement to develop essential practical skills. The emphasis of work-based learning and subsequent reflection on practice form a core component of the course ensuring that students can contextualise and personalise their learning by linking it to their settings.
During your studies you will learn through a varied approach to teaching and learning, which includes seminar discussion and assessment, reflective video diaries, essays, reports and portfolios, all of which enhance your communication and presentation skills.

Upon successful completion of this foundation degree you may be able to progress to the final year of the BA (Hons) Child Development and Education, or BA (Hons) Education, Development and Society at University Centre South Devon or the BA (Hons) Education Studies degrees at the University of Plymouth.
