Caring for Children Certificate Level 1
This one-year programme is a practical course that introduces working with children under 5. Learn about importance of play in our practical skills room which is laid out as an Early Years setting.
Host stay and plays for visiting groups of children, go out and about in the local community to discover what provisions and support are available for children and parents. Explore how important it is to promote independence and manage risk taking in our onsite Forest School.
The Introduction to Childcare course develops your confidence and personal skills as well as an awareness of what a career in childcare involves. You will complete three days in College to study child development, play and creative activities for children. You will also create a child friendly environment for visiting families and nurseries. With strong links to local employers, there will also be opportunities to volunteer with children and gain work experience during the course, which will prepare you for further study.
All of our childcare courses are delivered by experienced professionals, who draw upon their careers to provide you with the support and guidance you need. Everything we do is about creating a learning environment where you can develop your confidence and grow as a childcare professional.

“I’ve been a veterinary nurse for 17 years and have managed 2 surgeries, working in Paignton and Bristol as well as in Cape Town, South Africa. I love watching learners grow in confidence, and there’s no greater pleasure than seeing a student develop into an experienced professional with an exciting future ahead of them.”Donna Fowler
