GCSE (9-1) Biology

In this GCSE Biology evening course you will start with the basic building block of life, the cell and how genetic information is passed on from generation to generation. You will build on this knowledge to see how cells build organs and organisms, and how animals and plants interact with each other in their ecosystems.

You will learn through a mixture of lectures, internet-based research and group activities, as well as practical laboratory sessions, to develop your understanding of scientific procedures and data processing. You will be required to participate fully in class discussions, which are designed to encourage you to identify the many ethical issues associated with scientific advances in Biology.

This course is ideal for anyone with a general interest in Biology or for those who wish to study at sciences, particularly health sciences at a higher level.

“I joined the College to study GCSEs, including Chemistry, English and Maths. I wanted to work in veterinary science, so I then progressed to a range of science-based A Levels, and after gaining A grades in all subjects, I was able to continue onto a Veterinary Science degree at Cambridge University. I can now look forward to a career in something I’m passionate about, and I can’t wait to get started.”James Hawkesby
