This course is all about experimenting with your creative talent and developing your specialism and expertise. You’ll be taking your skills and pushing them further, challenging yourself and discovering new abilities along the way.
First and foremost, this course will continue to introduce you to a broad range of artistic practices. From illustration to film to sculpture and everything in-between, you’ll discover new and exciting art forms during your journey.
By learning the unique characteristics of these disciplines, you’ll begin to see how they support and interact with one another. This often leads to some of the most innovative and rewarding creative work, as you push your creative boundaries.
Alongside your technical skills, you will refine your creative thinking and personal approach to work. All of this is aimed at developing your independence, taking projects from conception through to realisation and solving problems in creative ways. You’ll be shaping your natural talent into a career, developing the skills that employers look for.
As with all of our Art and Design courses, you’ll be learning in specialist studios and digital facilities. These spaces are equipped with everything you need so that you can put your focus into learning new skills and techniques.
You’ll be learning from a team of professional creatives, each with years of experience. They won’t be teaching you from a book – they’ve lived this. We are proud of the friendly and supportive environment they create, making them the perfect team to guide you in your journey.
The next step will be to refine those specialist skills and interests, learning more advanced techniques and creative practices. Your professional journey will be well underway, with a varied portfolio of your work that you will continue to develop.
Many of our students continue their studies on the Art and Design Foundation Studies course, which is all about preparing you for university-level education at art schools and universities, including University Centre South Devon. However, you can also consider more applied learning and explore apprenticeship opportunities in the creative and digital fields.
“I chose to study the Foundation in Art and Design course and specialised in Photography. College gives you a lot more freedom, the lessons are structured more professionally which gives you an idea of what it will be like at university. I would really recommend this course if you want to grow as a designer."Alfie Reddy
