Advanced GRP or Composite Repairs and Surface Finishing Level 2
This workshop is for anyone currently using or working with composite structures or components. This could include companies working in the marine, automotive, aviation, transport or component manufacture sectors. This workshop follows on from Workshop 3 which focused on identifying common faults and diagnosing damage. This workshop will examine how to deal with more extensive damage and how to complete repairs as well as dealing with surface finish repairs.
The workshop is a practical hands-on full day session. In the morning you will diagnose damage to composite structure and select the correct materials to complete the repair. The afternoon will follow with a practical session completing a major repair to either moulds or a composite component in our fully equipped composites academy.
On successful completion of the workshop, you will be able to analyse major damage to a composite structure and complete a repair. There will also be the opportunity to identify surface faults and the methods used to repair them. You will have the opportunity to progress to a choice of short courses that focus in more depth on a specific process.
All courses have progression routes to our funded Level 2 and Level 3 short courses, or ultimately the Level 3 Composites Technician apprenticeship.

"When you start out as a Fisher you're looking between 2-4% of the total catch which is how we get paid off the top of the catch but 2-4% could be £300 a week, or it could be £1500 a week. It varies completely but I've never been to sea for less than £150 a day."Laurence Gilson
