Please note that this course is designed for those aged 19 and above.
This experimental course is designed for those that are interested in working with clay in a variety of methods and processes and have past experience of the material. The course will explore the potential of making in clay, its inherent properties and producing artefacts that can be taken home once fired.
The course will appeal to both students and professionals looking to increase their knowledge of materials, processes and widen their portfolio.
You will learn how to construct forms using hand-building techniques and create colourful and decorative surface patterns. A wide range of surface decoration techniques will be also covered.
During the course you will have the opportunity to use the potter’s wheel. Learning how to throw to create cylinders and functional tableware. You will be encouraged to bring materials and research during the course that contributes to their learning and practice.
Work will also be glazed and fired on site. You will be expected to collect your work after the course is complete to ensure the pieces are given time to dry out before they are kiln-fired.
This is a 12 week course with a course registration fee of £30.00.
