Access to Higher Education Diploma (Health Professions) Part-time
The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a course that enables you to progress to university. The Health Professionals pathway is ideal for anyone interested in working in:
Adult Nursing
Paediatric Nursing
Paramedicine
Mental Health Nursing
Midwifery
Occupational Therapy
Physiotherapy
Speech and Language Therapy
Any other health professional role
The core subjects you cover are health studies, psychology and biology. Alongside three core academic subjects, you will receive training in study skills, support in academic writing and referencing, as well as guidance with the UCAS application process.
The Health Professionals pathway is widely accepted on a variety of university courses including Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Paramedic Training and many more.
If you are under 24, and haven’t achieved a Level 3 before, your course can be funded. Alternatively, you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to pay for your course fees, which you will not have to repay if you progress to University and complete your degree.

This course is studied part time, one day a week, over two years. In the first year, you will study two of your core subjects and in the second year you will study the remaining two subjects. If you would prefer to study full-time, click here to apply.

(If you have not yet achieved a GCSE in English Language at grade C/4 or above, you should apply for the Pre-Access to Higher Education – Health Professionals Course Level 2 and study GCSE English Language (and GCSE Maths) alongside.)

- You must have a GCSE Grade 4(C) in English
- You would then be expected to enrol and complete GCSE Maths alongside the Access course so you are able to progress to University.

Many of our courses are fully funded for 16-18 year olds however not all courses are available for this age group.
