3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) Award Level 2
The City & Guilds Level 2 3D CAD course is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required to effectively utilise computer-aided design software for creating and modifying 3D models. This course serves as a comprehensive introduction to 3D CAD techniques and practises.
Throughout the course, students will learn to navigate popular 3D CAD software, gaining proficiency in creating accurate and detailed models. They will explore various design principles, including dimensioning, scaling, and geometric construction. The course emphasises the practical application of CAD tools to solve real-world design challenges, encouraging students to think critically and creatively.
Course Format:
The City and Guilds Level 2 3D CAD course is delivered through a combination of theoretical lectures, practical exercises, and hands-on projects. Students will have access to industry-standard CAD software, allowing them to gain practical experience in a simulated design environment. This course will use a mix of CAD Software, but predominantly Fusion and Inventor. The course may include group discussions, individual assignments, and assessments to evaluate the students’ progress and understanding.

I’ve recently completed my Level 5 HR Consultant Partner Apprenticeship at South Devon College and have enjoyed every minute! South Devon College has provided me with the tools and resources I needed to complete the course. My tutor and colleagues were extremely supportive and created an open environment to encourage participation and the sharing of ideas! Doing an apprenticeship has allowed me to apply knowledge that I’ve learnt during the course into real life situations. The end point assessment project has enabled me to showcase my new skills by designing a solution to a business need. Amy Law – HR Advisor, Core Highways
