I’m leaving school. What is Head Start?
If you’re leaving school then you might know that early summer is usually a time for taster days and welcome sessions. Students visit the College’s Vantage Point Campus in Paignton to get an exciting sense of what’s to come in the next stage of their education. We will also support your progression to the college with information and activities to help you prepare for September. This will be delivered via the College’s exclusive app, SDConnect.
Taster days have an important role to play in easing the transition from school to college; providing you with reassurance as you leave school by answering questions and helping you focus on your goals and ambitions.
Head Start is an online programme that does that and more. It will take place throughout the Summer and provide you with meaningful course related activities and suggested preparations, the opportunity to get to know your tutor, and receive pre-enrolment information. Then once your course starts in September you’ll be able to communicate with friends and collaborate with classmates through SDConnect.
How do I access Head Start?
SDConnect is where you can access Head Start. Since its launch, SDConnect has been used for real time class schedules and has provided a secure space for classes and tutors to communicate about their studies. More developments are being made continuously to ensure it compliments student life at South Devon College every day.
Head Start and the SDConnect platform will allow for improved monitoring of progress. This helps you get additional support with the next stage of your studies at the College.
Once you’ve downloaded the app below, you can login using the same details as when you applied for your course. If you have any questions about logging in, please email [email protected].
