How do I apply for a course?

Once you have chosen a course, you will need to submit an application. You can fill in an application in one of the following ways.

By selecting a course and filling out an online application

By printing and sending a pdf application form (PDF, 34Kb).

The Application Process

Acknowledgement

Firstly, once we have received your form we aim to process it within 48 hours and you will receive an acknowledgement through the post.

Interview

We will then register you for an interview with the course tutor. We will aim to send you a letter with an interview date within 2 weeks of receiving your application. Our interview sessions are normally on a Wednesday and Thursday between 4.00pm and 6.30pm. The interview will be a perfect opportunity for you to discuss your chosen course with the tutor. You will also get lots of information about general college life, transport and finance, as well as fun things to do whilst you are at college.

After your interview you will receive a letter which explains the offer you have been given. This offer may be 'Conditional' - depending upon your GCSE grades, for example, or 'Unconditional' - where your place is guaranteed. If you have applied before the end of June for a full time course you will be expected to attend a Welcome Day, which is normally at the beginning of July.

Welcome Day

If you have already been interviewed, by the beginning of June you will receive a letter inviting you to your Welcome Day, which is an informative and fun event where you can get more information about your course and meet the tutors and fellow applicants. You can also pick up more valuable information about the support available to you and get a taste of life as a South Devon College student.

Enrolment Days

The next time we will see you is on your Enrolment Day, which is held just before the course starts.  When you have enrolled you will be given your Student ID Card and your timetables for the start of term to begin life as a South Devon College student!
