Duke of Edinburgh Award
2009 saw yet another milestone for the College in the successful application for our own Independent Operating Authority Licence to offer the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. We are now an independent body, able to provide the DofE within the College. This is a notable achievement of which we are very proud. With our own in-house DofE Operations Manager we can support DofE at all levels.
Environment
South Devon College actively encourage recycling as part of its Environment Policy. Regular meetings for staff and students take place to discuss and implement environmental initiatives.
Recycling points are in place throughout the college and we are in partnership with Hollocombe Trust and Torbay Council for the collection of certain items. Current recycling initiatives involve the collection of cans, plastic, papers, bottles, vegetable waste, batteries, used toner cartridges, chewing gum and light tubes. Vegetable and garden waste is incorporated as part of the composting initiative with the college’s Horticulture Department.
