6th April 2017
South Devon College celebrated the success of our Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Bronze and Silver Award winners during a DofE Presentation Evening.
The DofE award means so many different things, to so many different people. It is not a level of learning, it is not a club badge, or a membership subscription. DofE is a measure of an individual’s core attributes.
Each DofE participant who received their award have taken an individual pathway- demonstrating commitment through volunteering, stamina and wellbeing through physical activities, personal development when learning a new skill, and leadership and management skills when completing an expedition.
It is these essential life skills that allow the DofE participants to stand out from the crowd. It develops a level of self-belief and confidence, an enrichment of life and a framework of values for success.
Each award has a different story. Each participant has a different motivation. But they all share one thing in common, they are all ‘go getters’!
Steve Caunter Assistant Principal at South Devon College said, “It is a real privilege to present these awards and join in with the celebration of this achievement. All are worthy award winners having demonstrated huge commitment and real life skills.”
Thank you Andy Wright and Dave Peart for taking the time out of their current yacht adventure to share their story of adventure, courage and commitment with all the DofE winners.
Congratulations to all our winners of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
