Management and Leadership

Chartered Management Institute qualifications allow progressive study from team leading to strategic management and leadership for employees and employers.

A recent management study showed over 85% of managers agreed their management and leadership qualifications improved their performance. Transferring their new skills to the work place, almost all have seen a vast improvement in their teams' performance.

78% of employers agreed that qualifications provide quality assurance for customers and the benefits outweighed the time, money and effort invested in obtaining them.

More than 80% of managers say that taking a management qualification resulted in increased professional recognition, with most stating that employers prefer qualified managers when recruiting.

This was confirmed by a further 53% advising that their qualification had helped them in gaining a promotion.

Qualifications can be delivered both at our college facilities or via bespoke methods on-site, and tailored to allow businesses to target specific organisational issues to help improve operational performance, raise motivational levels and increase productivity. Diploma in Team Leading - CMI Level 2

Chartered Management Institute (CMI) provides an excellent opportunity for supervisors or team leaders who have operational responsibility for a defined area of activity; this qualification gives existing and aspirational team leaders the communication and motivational skills to help improve operational efficiency. These qualifications are designed for team leaders, to support the development of their skills in leading a team, making sure that the team’s work achieves organisational objectives, and contributing to planning, problem solving and decision making.

Award in Project Management - CMI Level 3

This qualification is designed to meet the needs of managers responsible for projects, who wish to extend their skills and knowledge to embrace further project management disciplines. It is expected that learners will already be working in a Project Management environment, although the qualification is also open to learners wishing to build on their general management skills.

Diploma in First Line Management - CMI Level 3

Chartered Management Institute (CMI) provides an excellent opportunity for supervisors or first line managers who have operation responsibility for a defined area of activity; this qualification gives existing and aspirational managers the communication and motivational skills to help improve operational efficiency. We offer a flexible choice of qualifications at Level 3. Our Level 3 Diploma in First Line Management gives you all the key skills and competencies you'll need to become an effective first line manager. During the course you will cover units including personal development as a manager, resource planning, identifying development opportunities, meeting stakeholder needs, managing and communicating information and improving team performance

All potential students will need to attend an information session for initial assessment and tutor interview. There are multiple start dates throughout the year between September and July.

Funding

If you are aged 24 or over, you could be eligible for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan on some courses. This works in a similar way to a Higher Education loan for university, and you can borrow a minimum of £300 to a maximum that is equal to the cost of your course. This is not means tested, and does not have to be repaid until you are earning in excess of £21,000, and not before April 2017. Repayments are charged at 9% of any income above £21,000.

If course fees total £100 or more, you could pay for your course in instalments by Direct Debit. This allows you to take control of your payment schedule, with monthly repayments starting at just £25.

If an employer is paying the fee of the course, a formal letter on headed paper is required, detailing that the full costs will be covered. Employers fees are payable in full, and instalments are not available. To find out more about the funding you could receive, contact our team today.

To ensure that we can meet the needs of businesses in the South West, we aim to provide bespoke training packages wherever possible. If necessary, we can deliver training on company premises, minimising the impact that your employees' studies will have on your business.

We can also deliver bespoke English and maths courses to develop your staff members' literacy and numeracy, ensuring they are effective communicators who can solve problems efficiently. These are free to eligible adults who don't already have Level 1, Level 2 or Functional Skills qualifications, and can be sector-specific packages to meet your needs. Are you an adult looking for an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are a great way of gaining important skills and qualifications with work-based training. You'll also receive a wage whilst you study, which makes apprenticeship training a fantastic option for adults preparing for employment.

You can start an apprenticeship even if you are already employed, or the College can help you secure an employer in a relevant field. They develop real work experience, and you gain both technical and academic skills with 4 days per week spent in the workplace and the remaining day in College.
