As a College we are committed to help our students succeed. The current economic climate makes every study opportunity and qualification vital for young people seeking employment or further study. Our courses are tailored to offer a route through to employment or higher education whilst providing outstanding advice, support and guidance along the way.

Our students receive outstanding teaching from staff who have first hand industry experience in their specific field and we provide a package of real benefits that enable our learners to go forward building themselves as skilled individuals prepared to embark upon employment.

These are just some examples of the ways in which the college specifically supports every student’s future.

Be Employable week

Students have the opportunity to get one to one feedback from local employers on their readiness for employment including how to produce CVs and letters of application that will secure an interview. The chance to clarify their career aims and improve their personal presentation skills is also available.

Employability Fair

We host an Employability Fair in March in which local employers are able to advertise their vacancies and meet directly with prospective recruits. The college also provides an all year round Careers and Employability Moodle page on the college web site which advertises part-time vacancies to students on an ongoing basis.

Relationships with Industry

Links with business across the college also include Apprenticeships. Our teaching staff have industry experience and we provide the space for young business minded students to grow. Students are mentored by local business people and we continue to expand our work experience contacts.

WorkSkills Award

All our full time students take part in the BTEC WorkSkills qualifications. WorkSkills builds on the ABC of employability - Attitude, Behaviour and Communication - to develop the skills

that employers are looking for and to give learners an edge in a competitive climate.

Additional Qualifications

Alongside the main course qualifications each subject area delivers extra qualifications with industry in mind. Whether it be First Aid, Manual Handling, Sport Leadership, Text Processing or perhaps Understand Discipline, we offer what employers ask for.

Maths, English and IT

The college also provides opportunities for young people to secure their future with better skills in maths, English and IT by providing practical skills in English, maths and IT.

Modern World-class Facilities

Our outstanding £36m campus provides the local area with access to world-class facilities.
These include our silver service restaurant 'Horizons', our fully functional and professional Hair and Beauty Salon 'Inspirations', ‘Vibe FM’ our campus radio station that broadcasts online to the world, and our latest addition “The Energy Centre” providing the growing renewable energy sector with the training and skills required to enable the creation of 400 new jobs in the South Devon area.

2011 also saw the opening of our University Centre, a state of the art four storey building designed to improve the skills of the local community through Foundation Degree learning.
