Patrick McNevin, Simon Friend and Keith Powell in the members dining room

Members of the South West Energy Centre team (Simon Friend, Keith Powell and Patrick McNevin) were recently invited to attend a question and answer session with Ed Davey MP, the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, in the Member’s dining room at the Houses of Parliament. The event was hosted by RegenSW as a way of showcasing the activities of organisations in the Low Carbon sector in the South West.

The discussion raised some interesting points with regard to future government policies, but the Sectary of State re-assured attendees of the government’s commitment in reaching the 2020 carbon reduction targets. Ed Davey also praised the trail blazing work that was going on in the South West in which South Devon College has a key role in delivering high quality training, guidance and advice to industry and the community as we prepare for the emergence of the rapidly growing low carbon industry.
