Our congratulations to Maxine MacIntosh, a volunteer in the Stepping Out classes for adults with learning disabilities at Torquay Adult & Community Learning.

Maxine has graduated from her Foundation Degree in Integrated Crafts at South Devon College.  She specialised in the integration of pewter, plastic and textiles to produce a range of ‘wearable art’.

There was a work based learning module in her studies for which she utilized her experiences and transferrable skills gained with the Stepping Out Craft group.  Maxine said, “I definitely got an A for this piece of work!  Please thank the group for putting up with me and I hope that my tea making skills have improved.”

The dress in the photo recently won the City & Guilds Award at Pewter Live 2010 student design competition, organised by the Worshipful Company of Pewters in London.

In September, Maxine will be progressing onto the 3rd year of a BA (Hons) in Fashion at Plymouth College of Art.
