What to do if you are going to be absent from College?
1. Make contact with the Absence Line before 9.00am
2. Have your details to hand including:
- Date of birth
- Student number
- Personal tutor's name
- Reason for absence
3. If the line is busy you will be asked to leave your details on the answering machine. You will be given instructions for what information is required. All messages are logged, provided your information is full and clear.
4. Once we know who you are, we will send your details through to your Tutor.
If you claim weekly guaranteed Bursary payments we will ensure your reason for absence is taken into consideration when agreeing payments. In order to guarantee your payment all absences should be reported to the absence line.
If you need to report a lateness or you need to leave college early, please inform one of our advisors at Level 1 or Level 3 Reception, who will log this on the system for you. Please do not phone the absence line to report lateness.

Absence letters are sent home to the parents and guardians of all full time learners between 16 and 18 on the day after an absence is recorded. These letters outline the time and date of the lesson(s) missed and indicate whether a phone call was received by the Absence Line for this period. Therefore letters are sent regardless of whether we have been notified to ensure parents and guardians are informed of every absence.
