The South Devon College Marine Academy, based at Noss Marina on the River Dart, is a centre of excellence for water-based outdoor education and training.

    

The Marine Academy offers a range of full-time and part-time courses, recognised nationally by the outdoor and water sports industry. This includes the Foundation Degree in Yacht Operations, unique in this country.

 

South Devon College is an approved training centre for The Royal Yachting Association (RYA), British Canoe Union (BCU) and The UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) courses, and is also one of only eight RS Academies in the country (RS are a sailing boat manufacturer).

 

There is an extensive enrichment programme which will enable learners to undertake residentials, trips and visits, work-placements and further essential vocational qualifications to maximise employability. Other marine-based courses, including Marine Engineering, are also available at the college's Noss Marina site.

Facilities Include:

 

  • 2 College yachts, a Beneteau Oceanis Clipper 381 and a Sigma 38
  • A range of sailing dinghies, from single handed dinghies to performance dinghies
  • A range of kayaks, canoes and powerboats
  • The opportunity to achieve internationally recognised professional RYA (Royal Yachting Association) qualifications from the Noss Marine Academy base. T he Academy is an RYA Recognised T raining establishment (RTE)
  • The staff and the facilities boast excellent links with local u
    marine industries
  • We also run our Marine Engineering and Boat Building courses from the Academy
  • It has a range of boat moulds, materials and composites u relevant to all water based users. It is a centre for marine construction skills.
  • The site is based on the River Dart, which is a natural deep water harbour with good shelter and access to extensive cruising grounds, making it a perfect location for watersports.
