The team includes visual and performing artists, designers, musicians, film makers, directors, and producers who bring valuable skills and knowledge from their professional practice to the students they teach.

Facilities include well equipped workshops for print making, wet & digital photography, fashion/ textiles, metals, 3D design, ceramics, graphic design, and digital art with specialist Apple Mac computers, Adobe Creative Suite, Moving Image and animation facilities.
The Street Theatre Company

 

The Street Theatre Company is the place to experience and study acting, dance, movement, physical theatre, musical theatre, theatre production and the performing arts business.

 

The Street Theatre Company will develop your skills to prepare you for employment in the creative arts industry. Whether you want to be a professional actor, dancer, performer, creative director, drama teacher, recording artiste, technician, or simply make a living doing what you enjoy, we can help you on your way. Creative education will also develop lifelong learning skills and transferable skills that are very useful for many different fields of employment.

 

To succeed as a performer you must have total commitment to your career and we expect this within our company. You must take your personal development as seriously as we do; we expect 100% commitment, as you will need this attitude to succeed. The Street Theatre Company will also give you the opportunity to meet other like-minded people, give you access to fantastic facilities, the opportunity to study a course with relevant performing arts content and access to experienced specialist performers and tutors.


Academy of Music and Sound


This is the place to study, create and produce rock, pop, metal, punk, soul, blues, drum and bass, dance music and jazz. Our team of dynamic staff are practising musicians, songwriters and producers, and deliver contemporary music education through a range of different courses. The team will help you unlock your potential and prepare you for a career in the music industry in our new purpose-built rehearsal, performance, digital music and recording facilities.

 

Sports Academies


Tennis Academy


The Tennis Academy is designed for talented players wanting to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding of the sport.

 

You will participate in a comprehensive coaching performance programme. This is facilitated through regular training, coaching and competition matches. As an Academy student, you will study at Level 3 in either Sports Studies or Sports Science. If you have a LTA rating of 6.1 and below, you will have the opportunity to complete the Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme in Sporting Excellence (The AASE scheme). This is delivered in conjunction with the Lawn Tennis Association and we are one of only 16 centres in the UK recognised to deliver the AASE scheme. Our Academy works in partnership with Torquay Lawn Tennis Club, where you train and play, using state-of-the art facilities, including indoor and outdoor courts.

The course includes regular regional and national competitions. As part of the programme, you will have the opportunity to complete a number of tennis coaching awards. The Academy programme includes a strict fitness regime and players have use of both College facilities and local leisure centre facilities. You will also benefit from our on-site Physiotherapist who will support you with rehabilitation and injury management programmes.


Football Academy


The South Devon College Football Academy is an opportunity for dedicated and talented footballers to study for a Level 3 Diploma or Level 2 NVQ qualification, whilst developing their football skills.

 

Our successful and well established Football Academy includes daily training and coaching, and is run by UEFA A Licence coaches and ex-professional players. The Academy competes regularly to a very high standard in local, regional and national leagues and cup competitions and is linked to Plymouth Argyle FC. The Academy has good links with local professional clubs and, when appropriate, we can direct players to these clubs for trials. You will also complete a range of FA football coaching awards as part of the course, as well as benefiting from our on-site Physiotherapist who will support you with rehabilitation and injury management programmes.

 

We are recognised by both the FA and British Colleges’ Sport, having been selected as a ‘Focus College’, in recognition of our work with girls’ and special needs’ football. The selection process for Academy students includes an interview, a letter of recommendation regarding football ability and attitude from a football manager/ coach or teacher, plus formal trials organised by the College. Players also attend a Welcome Day and complete a health and fitness assessment.


Golf Academy


The Golf Academy is an exciting opportunity for young talented male and female golfers. The course is designed to help learners realise their golfing playing ability, and is suitable for those wishing to pursue a career as a Golf Professional. Players with a handicap of 5 and under (males) or 10 and under (females) also have the opportunity to complete the Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme in Sporting Excellence (AASE scheme).

 

Golf Partnership.


The course is designed to help you realise your golfing playing ability, and is suitable for those wishing to pursue a career as a Golf Professional. You will be considered with any handicap and if your handicap is 5 and under (males) or 10 and under (females), also have the opportunity to complete the Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme in Sporting Excellence (AASE scheme).


We are one of only 10 centres in the UK recognised to deliver this elite programme, which is supported by the England Golf Partnership.

 

The Golf Academy includes regular coaching and practice at Churston Golf Club, whose facilities include an excellent course, practice ground and performance analysis centre. You will develop your skills through professional coaching and practice play on the course, taking part in regular competitions at the club and participating in British Colleges’ golf competitions and tours.

 

As an Academy player, you will also have the opportunity to develop your coaching skills by completing coaching qualifications and running sessions for young children as part of their course.
You will study at Level 3 in either Sports Studies or Sports Science and benefit from our on-site Physiotherapist who supports you with rehabilitation and injury management programmes.


Marine Academy


The Noss Marine Academy is a Centre of Excellence for water-based outdoor education and training, and marine engineering.


Our Marine Academy offers a range of full time and part time courses, recognised nationally by the outdoor, water sports and marine engineering industries. Courses range from day courses to 2-year programmes, and include 2 exciting Foundation Degrees, in Yacht Operations and Outdoor Education. We are a recognised training centre for the RYA and BCU/UKCC courses. The Academy is based close to the College at Noss on the Dart in the heart of South Devon. Our tutors are at the cutting edge of their sports and trades, and they are passionate about passing on their knowledge to develop your potential.


Basketball Academy


Our new Basketball Academy will give you the opportunity to fulfil your playing potential whilst studying for a Level 3 academic qualification, such as the Diploma in Sports Studies or Sports Science.

 

You will receive regular high quality basketball coaching and a regular match and competition schedule, including British Colleges’ competitions. Additionally, you will benefit from strength and conditioning training, and access to our on-site Physiotherapist who supports you with rehabilitation and injury management programmes.


Rugby Academy


If you are a talented and enthusiastic rugby player and wish to develop your skills as well as getting a recognised Level 3 academic qualification, this course could be for you. Our academy will work in partnership with the local RFU and local clubs to help you develop your potential whilst continuing in education.

 

You will study Sports Science or Sports Studies at Level 3 and benefit from our on-site Physiotherapist who supports you with rehabilitation and injury management programmes.
