SDC COLA Awards create a buzz

SOUTH DEVON COLLEGE’s music and performing arts department recently held their Celebration of Learner Achievement (COLA) Awards.

The Awards - held in the College Theatre - congratulated all learners in the department on their fantastic commitment throughout the year and included videos of learner work, the best performances of the year and a celebration our learners’ outstanding creativity and achievement.

“We have had a truly amazing year at South Devon College in the Performing Arts, Production Arts, Music and Music Technology courses,” said Music and Performing Arts Section Head Caroline Hughes, “With our outstanding staff, talented and committed learners and truly fantastic shows, we have had our best year yet!”

Musical journey and distance travelled – Tom Couchman

Best composition – Ryan Tremaine

Best Production – Leo Cunningham

Dedication – Simon Harding

Most improve player – Jess Kinnaire

Best Band – No One’s Night

Floorless Music Award – David Turner

Industry Excellence Award – Phil Haynes

Performing Arts (Dance, Musical Theatre, Drama)

Best Dance performance – Scott Roberts

Best Acting performance – Tom Bowdler

Best Musical Theatre performance – Jasmine Clatworthy

Best Piece of community work – Natasha Brown

Best Research Paper – Vicky Nagy

Most Improved – Tom Cony

Special Achievements – Blake Diton and Luke Grant

Production Arts (Technical Theatre)

Most improved technician – Jamie Barker

Production Arts award – Martin Skinner
